Am I Crazy?!
That depends. Now before all of you reading this
want to send me terrible letters about how great your Grandpa was and he was a
great Captain, please read on.
I know that making this statement will cause some
people to feel their shorts twisting as they are reading this but that is part
of the problem. Get all of the information before you form your opinion. Right
now in the U.S. we are heading towards a presidential election which makes our
sensitivity meters go wild. So remember, as with all things, get all of the
information.
It’s In Their Training
When someone goes to work and school to become
the captain of a ship, they go through very rigorous training. They are tested
and pressured and taught many things that most of us will never know. In short,
they are awesome at their jobs and they are the people we want at the helm of
the ship, but….
Going Down
When everything is going well at sea, it is a
glorious trip of beautiful water, amazing sea creatures and happy passengers.
However, when things go bad it can be a terrifying situation. The Captain has
to do all he or she can in order to save the ship, the passengers, the crew and
lastly themselves. Here is where the issue comes in when running a business.
There is a Way Out!
If the terrible and unfortunate circumstance
occurs that the ship is going down the Captain is the last person to go – if
they can get off of the ship. That is, they can get off the ship if there is
time.
Don’t Go Down with the Ship!
When a Captain of a ship is watching their
radar, listening to weather reports, etc. they generally are given time to make
a decision to change courses or make a correction (this isn’t always the case but
for the most part it is).
In business there are usually signs that
things aren’t going well and you have time to make a course correction. You can
dig through your reports and find out what is going on IF you know what to look
for. You can also listen to someone that is willing to tell you the truth.
The problem here is that most people will tell
you what they think you want to hear. Why? You may have shown them in the past
that you won’t listen or maybe they haven’t been asked or a whole host of other
reasons.
You Have Time!
Most businesses have time to make the corrections
they need in order to right the ship and stay afloat. Generally the problem is
they don’t ask for help. Why? There are so many possibilities here that we will
never have time to cover them. Just keep in mind that in your business there is
probably time if you act now.
Call and ask for help, email someone you know,
search online, do something but, don’t
go down with the ship!
Great Captain’s protect their passengers and crew
and you need to protect your business, your employees, your family and more.
But you can’t protect them if you go out of business. You can help far more
people when you are successful rather than if your ship (business), sinks!
You Can Do It!
You can be successful and you can live the life that
you have dreamed about. Everything that you are
hoping for is available to you. You can reach your goals, you can make it. How are these people doing it while you are struggling? They have a secret! Unfortunately most of them won’t tell you what it is but…..

Their Secret Is Out!
All successful people have a secret and their secret
is……THEY ALL HAD HELP!
You read that right; there is no self-made man or
woman on the planet in the truest sense of that word or statement. Everyone
received help along the way. They all ran into rough spots, they all had tough
times; they all had to ask for help
along the way!
Now It’s Your Turn
You can go it alone and spend years trying to figure
out what to do or; you can be wise and ask for help from those that have done
it and can help you reach your goals faster, they can make your journey a safe
one and they can show you how to have fun along the way!
Don’t
be afraid to ask for help, in fact I encourage you to do so. Whether you ask me
or someone else, make sure they are successful and then ask them for their help
and ask them now!
