Do I Count?

Tuesday, August 12, 2014 7:49 AM
Many people over the course of their lives wonder if they count. In this blog post we are asking “Do I Count?”

This is a great question and one that many of us give up on because of the political landscape, how we were raised, what people have told us, etc.

Because this blog is dedicated to helping you start and/or grow your business, we won’t dive into the personal issues but instead will stick with our area of expertise and that is to help you make money, grow your business, and be successful.

“Do I Count?” Let’s take a look at some information that will help to answer this question.

According to the U.S. Small Business Administration, Frequently Asked Questions About Small Business, in March 2014, here are their findings, small businesses make up:

Ø  99.7% of U.S. employer firms
Ø  48.5% of private-sector employment
Ø  42% of private-sector payroll
Ø  33% of exporting value
Ø  60% of net new private-sector jobs created following the recession (mid-2009 through mid-2013)

The small business “umbrella” covers different kinds of firms:

v  52% are home-based businesses
v  72.1% are sole proprietors
v  18.5% are corporations
v  20.1% have employees, 79.9% do not

Given that the U.S. produces trillions of dollars a year in products and services, these are some gigantic numbers. Based on all of this, I would say that the answer to our question; “Do I Count?” is a great big resounding YES!!!!!

Now go out and change your world for the better!
