Who Is In Your Circle Of Influence?

Monday, November 25, 2013 11:18 AM
In our last post we discussed if you were “zeroed in” and how important it is to your success. We also touched on your “circle of influence” and said that we would dig into this concept further in this post so here we go!

In order to start this right we must ask the question: What is your “circle of influence” and how important is it?

To answer this properly and make it as clear as possible, look at your personal life and give some thought to whom you surround yourself with on a regular basis. What are they like, where do they hang out, how are they doing financially, personally in their families, how do they act, etc.?

If you really spend some time on this (and we suggest that you do), give it some clear thought and are honest with yourself, you will see that many of them are similar to yourself or at least have the same goals, traits, etc. There are many very interesting ways to interpret this. If you are paying attention, this is also a very profitable opportunity here. No, not to try and make money from your friends so stay with me here.

First because of limited space here, we won’t go into all of the personal applications to this but we will dig into the business side of this.

Take some time and go through your customer list and find the best customer(s) you have. Now go through the rest of your list and match those that are the closest to your best customer and you will see some similar, matching qualities to each of them.

Now look at the leaders of the companies and learn what you can about them. Why would you do this? Because people generally associate with people like them (birds of a feather flock together). They will go to the same types of restaurants, belong to the same clubs, have similar interests and so forth. If you can identify these traits you will begin to see where your marketing efforts should be focused.

Now you can begin to look at each of these prospects and analyze who is in their “circle of influence” and you may stand a great chance of winning them as your new customers as well.

Think about how this can transform your business and personal life. Rather than searching all over for others that could possibly be great customers, spend some time with your best customers as they could introduce you to more people just like them. It will cost you less time and money and you will add to your own “circle of influence” and that could make this exercise life-changing!
